Wu Yi Takes Charge of Food Safety and Product Quality

After weeks of bad news on food safety and product quality, the Chinese government has appointed Vice Premier Wu Yi to lead a cabinet panel on food safety and product quality. The 19-member panel consists of relevant ministers and agency heads. Wu, a top troubleshooter of the government, led the fight against SARS in 2003, after the firing of then health minister Zhang Wenkang.
